This is a sales increase, which means their consoles and games are selling successfully. The Gamecube is just selling poorly compared to other other consoles. Says something about the games too.

"Nintendo also suffered 40 billion yen (US$369.6 million) in investment losses due to the yen's rise."

This is the main problem to their losses this year. I'm guessing the same reason caused Sony's 98% loss in profits.

So you see, it's not because Nintendo isn't producing what you want, but what nearly everyone else wants. Games. Good games. Be they RPGs or not.

The Xbox's success is quite surprising to me. I've heard of very few people who own one, so i'm guessing it's like the Sun (British tabloid (the most popular newspaper)). Everyone has it, but don't want to admit it.

Finally, if you've never heard about all the past attempts for portable games consoles that have tried to beat the Gameboy, and have failed, it's all because of one reason. Battery life. The Gameboy Advance SP can last for 20 hours with the light on. The N-gage can only last 6 hours. Why is this? Too much power in the systems ablities. They drain the batteries too quickly. Thats the real reason to the Gameboy's success. This PSP looks interesting though, if they get the batteries to last more than 10 hours.

And since you were refferring to Game Gear and such, the Game Gear was HUGE and took a bunch of batteries... I'd much rather have a GBP, GBC, or GB over the GG, since you couldn't sneak that thing anywhere...

But it's not only about how much you sell, it's about if you make money or not selling what you sell.

I did know this, I mentioned this in one of my long posts long ago. But what about the new, superior portable systems? Like, for example the GP32, with an open SDK and I think it was capable of emulating the GBA, so go figure. Or the N-Gage. And what will they do when Sony launches the PSP? Also, the first color GameBoy came long after the GameGear (and after another of sega's screwups, the Nomad), and it wasn't half as good. Sure, the batteries last long, but I think if there are such portable consoles in the market, they should at least try to equal them.

Now they say they won't present it at E3. This is reassuring; they had started to sound like sega when they were like OMG WTF U N00B WERE FUX0RING DA DREAM THING WTF!11!11!!!

Nintendo is bullshitting about their new product is nothing like a conventional console etc., just like sony. That's surely pure bullshit, but if that's how sony gets its systems overhyped to sell better, then it might be a good strategy, so I'm not complanining.

I think it was more of a misinterpretation. Considering Nintendo's success (and temporary losses) at the moment, it doesn't really make sense to announce a new console next year. This seperate device sounds similar to the PSX, possibly without the Gaming function. However, the way it's been described, it sounds like an add on the GC.

Of course, we could say that this misinterpretation could be used as a publicity stunt. Everyone's interested in a new console, this "mistake" could increase interest. And it works!

Yes, we are talking about it and that's what they want. But I think it is a console, they mentioned it's a new system, and they are spreading the same type of bull as sony ("completely new thing", "not like all existing consoles", "very different", etc.), they said the same about the PS3 which is just another console. This is bull but it's a good idea, casual gamers have a bull-o-meter and they buy the system with the most bull.

There were rumours of the PS3 being an Operating System for a PC. AKA Xbox 2. In other words, Sonysoft lives!!

There were other rumours that the PS5 would be biological. (I'm not making this up, i've read it in GM.)

Yeah, and PS6 will be HPTDD (Hyper-Positronic Trans-Dimensional Device). WTF. Bullshit. Good bullshit. Will sell millions.

PS3 an OS for PC? I seriously doubt it. They'd be lacking standarization. And it'll bring a lot of problems. Not to mention it'll be bound by the current PC technology which isn't too good in some things. And how will they sell it, if it doesn't have enough "bits"? Remember casuals are as stupid as to care for that. They'll have to make an add-on with a disk drive or something and a 8192 bit processor that clocks at 2 KHz and does nothing so it will sell. It'll be easier to copy - chances are that you won't even need to buy the system to play warez on it; bad for business. And last, but not least, they make money with the hardware, why ceasing to make it? I'm 99% sure this is completely false.

PS5 biological? We don't have one single usable biological processor, it's nonsense. Besides, a completely biological machine will be useless. It would have to be hybrid Can you divide 12376/4532 in 1E-10 seconds? That's why [img]smile.gif[/img] .
